RIVA SETTE MARTIRI CASTELLO 1364/A, 30122 VENEZIA (VE), ITALIA
Post hoc in the Palazzina Canonica for Jenny Gibbs c/o Dane Mitchell with Zara Stanhope & Chris Sharp
New Zealand’s pavilion, from the Latin ‘after this,’ was a list: a quite long list of things, of species, of entities and identities that until the time of making were lost, stolen, forgotten, extinct (like the Moa.) The list is longer now. At a rate of 10,000 items per day the list was read, over the course of the entire six-month Biennale, in the sinking city of Venice.
I’m careful not to stage the work as a moral lesson. —Dane Mitchell, 2019
